Security Tips for using Contactless payment

What is a contactless payment?

Contactless payment is payment method using a debit, credit and prepaid cards through POS machines and ATMs provided the NFC near-field communication technology that powers contactless payments through a type of radio frequency identification (called RFID) and it doesn’t require any physical contact between the customer’s card and the POS or ATMs. NFC transactions take place over a specific radio frequency that enables the card to communicate with the payment reader when they’re close together (usually 10 centimeters or less) with no need to use the pin code of the card.

How to protect yourself from phishing?

  1. Using Contactless payment service on POS using ATM cards:
    • 50 JOD or less ( or equivalent in other currencies) maximum amount per transaction with no pin code required
    • Above 50 JOD (or equivalent in other currencies) per transaction pin code required
  2. Using Contactless payment service on ATMs:
    • Pin code required for all transactions/amounts.

General Security tips when handling Card’s PIN:

  • Don’t share your PIN with anyone and keep it private at all times. We’ll never ask you to send us your PIN via email, SMS, or even in person
  • Memorize your PIN and never write it on your card or place it in your wallet
  • Shield the keypad from view whenever you enter your PIN on the POS machines
  • If you believe someone has stolen your PIN, Stop your card instantly
  • If you receive a message with a transaction that you didn’t make, stop your cards immediately through CAB mobile banking or call CAB contact center 1700-701-701
